In this week’s video blog our expert guide, Don Hadley, discusses conflict and conflict resolution.

Conflict is an inevitable part of being part of a team and organization. From the miniscule to the complete knock down drag outs, conflict arises on a regular basis as long as communication, perspectives, styles and backgrounds and people are involved.

We have found that one of the critical factors in preventing the more catastrophic types of conflict, is setting boundaries. When we set boundaries early on in a team dynamic or relationship, this allows for more patience and better control over emotions and situations. These boundaries set the tone as to what is acceptable, how to best communicate, and how we’d like to be treated. The cost of not having boundaries and not teaching employees how to handle/manage conflict is very high.

We encourage you to ask yourself the following questions:

  • What tools and systems do you and your leaders have in place to teach and demonstrate how employees can handle conflict?
  • Do your employees know how to peel “back the onion” in order to remedy and even prevent conflict from occurring in the future?
  • What boundaries do you set for your teams?

If your organization needs help working with conflict and using it as an opportunity for personal and business growth and development, contact our expert guides by calling 800-786-4332 or email CClemmer@AppliedVisionWorks.com. Your success is in plain sight. It just takes determination and action and only takes 30 minutes to get started!
