Some organizational leaders are great at execution.  Others are great at crafting a Vision.  It seems rare to find a leader who is great at both.

Vision Roadsign

The processes of an organization should ensure tactical capability of execution, while prioritizing activity towards those best suited to the long-term vision of the future.  This is important as organizational processes occur further away from the leaders; it becomes more difficult to ensure the quality of the process.  Processes are also useful to most business leaders to tie in the part they are weak at (vision or execution) to the strong part via a process.

This reminds us of two sayings.  Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and Henry Ford all said, “Vision without execution is just a hallucination.”   Albert Einstein took it a step further and said, “Execution without vision is chaos.”

In working with leaders, departments and organizations to build processes, it seems deceptively simple and is a skillset all its own.  Even with individuals that are detailed and work step-by-step naturally, it still takes building a standard template and identifying his/her own style for the processes needed.  It is also an ongoing project and the processes need to be continually refined as changes occur in markets, technologies or industries.

  • What steps do your leaders take to refine processes to ensure that the organization’s vision can become a reality?
  • Do your leaders and teams work together on strengths and weaknesses to achieve the vision?
  • Do your leaders know how to overcome any chaos that is created along the way?

If your organization needs help creating and refining its processes to support your long-term vision, contact our expert guides by calling 800-786-4332, or email JSabatini@AppliedVisionWorks.com.  Success is in plain sight and only takes 30 minutes to get started!
